Can we talk about the red elephant in the room?  Diaper Rash!     Babies look so cute in their little nappies but that red irritating rash can happen so fast and turn your sweet loving baby miserable.   All babies get it at one time or another and it’s horrible.  Oli got it immediately after we switched to solids and I didn’t know what to do.  Luckily, he had a pediatricians appointment the next day.   She quickly recommended keeping him clean, dry and using Desitin.   So with baby Milo, I was already well stocked with the cream and we went with a preventative action plan.

What is diaper rash?

Diaper rash is a common skin condition affecting the area around an infant’s perineal area, his bottom.    It’s a bright red rash that spreads fast and causes your baby pain.

What causes diaper rash?

It can be caused by yeast, acids in stool, ammonia overexposure, wearing diapers that are too small, allergic reactions to soaps, or simply a hot day.

How do you prevent diaper rash?

It’s super easy!

  • Keep baby’s skin clean and dry
  • Allow diaper area to dry before reapplying diaper
  • Protect your baby’s tender skin with a diaper rash treatment like  DESITIN® Rapid Relief Cream: Zinc Oxide Diaper Rash Cream.    This fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested creamy formulas goes on smoothly and wipe off easily, but best of all it seals out wetness so your baby is protected!

How do you treat diaper rash?

It happens fast, in our case it often happens overnight.  So we immediately switch to DESITIN® Maximum Strength Original Paste: Zinc Oxide Paste because there is no stronger diaper rash treatment without a prescription.  It works fast!  It moisturizes and protects the most sensitive skin.

My favorite fun tip to help with diaper rash?

After three kids, I have one more important but super fun way to prevent and treat diaper rash, NAKED time.   Let your little ones run around naked for an hour in the back yard.  Fresh air helps everything, the rash and your mood after dealing with a miserable baby with diaper rash.  Plus who can’t help but smile after you see a cute baby bum?

Lucky for us, Desitin is available everywhere.  You can get it at your grocery story, pharmacy or even on amazon!   Prevent and treat those cute little baby bums with Desitin.    For more information, check out the Desitin website here.
