“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

Daisy is our family member. She’s a Wild West Highland Terrier and I’m not joking when I say wild. She loves being outdoors and chasing the boys (and squirrels). We take her on hikes, beach trips and to our local dog park. During the summer these are all danger zones for pests and parasites.
Some Types of External Dog Parasites
Fleas are the first parasite we think of with dogs. If you see evidence of fleas on your dog, it is essential to get rid of them as quickly as possible, before the population grows. Hungry fleas sometimes bite your kids too, leaving small, red, itchy bumps most commonly observed on the wrists and ankles. They can overtake your house quickly!
Ticks are one of my biggest fears, and can cause a number of serious illnesses in animals and humans. If you find a tick on your dog, remove it quickly, keep the area clean with alcohol and our vet suggests keeping the tick in a plastic bag in your freezer labeled with the date.
There are effective treatment options for once your dog is infected, but with the wide variety of extremely effective preventive medications, you can help ensure that your little buddy is not bothered with painful pests.
Our island has fleas, ticks, mosquitos and more dangerous pests. These pests may be a nuisance at the time, but may lead to long term health problems for your little family member. Prevention is really the only way for us. We have chosen to go with Hartz® UltraGuard Pro® Drops for Daisy. These drops come in an easy to use angled applicator that glides through fur and it keeps pesky parasites away, helping kill fleas, flea eggs and flea larvae and brown dog and deer ticks, while repelling mosquitoes for up to 30 days. Your puppy can start on these easy to use drops at about 12 weeks and it starts killing the pests in about 15 minutes.
A parasite is an organism that lives on or in a host organism and gets its food from or at the expense of its host.
We use topical treatments, but many pet owners prefer the collars. Hartz® UltraGuard Pro® offers complete flea and tick protection in an easy to use collar as well. You can be ready for any outdoor adventure this summer.
Thank you Hartz® UltraGuard Pro® for protecting more than 5 million sweet pets from fleas and ticks, every single year. Not to mention protecting our homes. If you find a flea on your pup, you will find them in your home. You can choose to go the treatment route or prevention route, prevention is so much easier. Once a month, use the drops from your dog’s shoulder blades to the base of her tail. Mark your calendar, or just always do it on 1st of the month. It’s so easy!
